Level_4 finished

Done with the Level_4 sketch. In Level_4, the background change to the dark(night version). Also, all elements included in Level_4. For example, monsters, items, requires, traps and all kinds of motion player need to be know. I will make the final level, Level_5. Maybe in Level_5, there are more monsters, like boss? Here is the first version of Level_4 sketch:

Level_3 sketch

 Finished sketch of Level_3. Based on Level_2, I add monster into the Level_3. Different monsters can move different way. Like, flying, moveing forward and backward. All of the monsters are automatically. Player need to defeat and kill the monsters then collect items in order to achieve the requirement of the Level. Also, I added some traps in the map. These will make game much more fun and more difficult to players. I will finished Level_4. I plan to set Level_4 into the darkness. Change the background world. Here is the first version of Level_3 sketch:

Level_2 sketch

Finished Level_2 sketch. It includes the items that player need to collect and taught player how to achieve the requirement of passing the level. Most important is that Level_2 wants player to know the items are the key of the game. They need to collect the correct order of items in order to open the door(to the next Level). Next, I will continue on drawing and sketching different levels. First version will be Level_1 to Level_4. Here is the first version of Level_2 sketch:

First thinking of the story and background

I am doing the mind note of the background story of my first game. I decide to choose the story from the ideas of animation, ideas of history or ideas of Science fiction future. The background story is the hardest part of my game. Because a good story will make the game unique to other games and player will attracted by background story and able to expeirence the game better. Connect to the mind note of my Level Design. I will consider about why the monster here and what are the monsters want to do to the player. And why Player need to complete each level. Next, I will continue on the sketch of the levels and the main story of background. Here is the first thing of background story direction.

Draw the Level_1 sketch

Use Tile map and Tile brush to create the map of Level_1 in demo.  According to the sketch, Level_1 is the most simple level. In order to help player to understand how to collect the items in the map and how to control the player. Next, I will try to continue on the drawing the sketch to add game feature into the game. For example, maybe monsters. Let player know how to beat the monsters. Also, need player to know what are the differences between different items and maybe the items have different features. Here is the first version of Level_1 sketch:

Mind Note of Level Design

 I did Level_1 through Level_4 mind note. In order to list different elements need to be included in different Level. Now, I will start working on the sketch of 1-4 Level. Here is the mind map: In Level_1, this is the easiest level, because no monster. All it want the player to learn is the basic operation: jump, go forward, backward, double jump and crouch In Level_2, in this level, add some monsters, cliffs and combine the elements in Level_1 In Level_3, maybe will add the spikes or traps In level_4 will switch to another background.
