Finish the Level_1 prototype

Finished the Level_1 prototype. Includes the moving platform, seesaw and spikes. Also, add the feature of death. When player touch the spikes, game over. Level_1 is a level to introduce the basic control and learn player how to pass the level and avoid the danger in the level. Send the prototype to others and play the prototype then write down the feedback in order to upgrade later. Now, working on Level_2.

New thought about the elements in Level

 Went to the natural history museum today. I got some new thoughts about the elements can be add in Level_2 which is underground topic. Some new gems and rocks. Can design the monster which have gems on their back. Such like this photo,  Also, from this photo, I can add different cloths to player in different topics of Level. For example, in Level_3, the forest, I can add the mask similar to this photo. At last, I can design the background of Level_2 use some gems as the map.

Update some Level and Next step is making new prototype

 I will start making prototype of Level_1 and Level_2. Still need to change Level_3 and Level_4 on sketch step. In Level_3, I need to find a way to let the "fountain" can make player move in a certain direction. In Level_4, I need to update the map. Try to add more elements about "sky". Update Level_1, remove some useless spikes. Try to find a method that can control the rock rolling down when player move to the slope in Level_2.

Upgrade Level_3 sketch

 Upgrade Level_3 sketch. Add forest elements into this Level. For example, some moving plat design as the shape of leaf or wood. There will be a waterfall and river in this map. Also, player need to use fountain to move up or move away from the river. Finally, collect the item that the level required to pass the level. Player will get a fragment. Next level, I will design as the map in the air. There will be full of clouds and different kinds of monsters.

Upgrade and add details into Level_2 sketch

I want to design the Level_2 background as the "underground world". So i upgrade the map into the underground and add the elements like the underground monster and the environment is the in the dust. Also, I set the light to dark because Level_2 is underground. Only can see through the lights. And then connect Level_2 and Level_3. I plan to set the background of Level_3 as the forest.

Upgrade the details of Level_1 sketch

 Upgrade the sketch of Level_1. Draw the brand new version of Level_1. Add the background elements into the game. Also, make the game a little difficult. Combine the Level_1 and previous Level_1. The new Level_1 only teach player how to control player and understand that the requirement of pass the level. And design the entry to connect Level_1 and Level_2.

Preparing for drawing the details of each level

 After looking for some pictures. I almost confirm what kinds of background should I use. For example, This picture, I want to desgin a level that the half is under water half is above the water. In each different level, I will design different environment like desert, underground and forest. Because the main story is "Restore" and I will find the fragments of the main item around the world. Next, I will draw the sketch of details for each level. Then try to run the first demo to check is there anything I need to fix and upgrade. Here is the new idea of each Level, I will upgrade each level.

Narrow the search and do the reference

 Since I decided to do research online. First of all, I founded a lot of different kinds of pictures. For example, the architecture, models or cars. Secondly, I select some of pictures in order to narrow the search. Finally, I  will decide what kind of art style and visual elements that I want to use in the game.

Comfirm Background story

 Confirmed what direction of the background story I want to use in my game. The most important title is "Restore" something. I will do some research online and find some pictures in order to find the newest idea and unique ideas that can be use in my game. For example, the items in game or the monsters in game. Here is the background story about "Restore". The story is about   there is a long-standing civilization once existed in the mysterious deep-sea realm. And that advanced civilization left a prop that can cure various diseases in the world. But the props were divided into 3 parts and left in various remote corners of the world. The protagonist learned the news from the Internet and decided to search for these 3 fragments to help all mankind.

Working on Background story and the main direction

 List 7 different topic of the game. For example, escape, restore something, revenge, protect, find the truth and find yourself. I wrote 7 different stories about all of these topics. And I will decide which story theme and the background is the best for my first game. And when I decide which story topic and theme. I will continue to working on add the story related stuff into the game. Like role, monsters and environment.
